After Words with Walid Phares
Walid Phares talked about his book, The Lost Spring: U.S. Policy in the Middle East and Catastrophes to Avoid, in which he argues that the U.S. has been making policy missteps in the Middle East, as a result oil company influence. In the book, he analyzes the events of the Arab Spring and asserts that Washington entered the conflicts too late and supported the wrong side. He talked about the potential for a major breakdown in Middle East policymaking for Western nations and explained what policy changes he believes should be made. He spoke with Joshua Muravchik of the Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies. close
