2000 Presidential Election

Brent Kallestad, a former Associated Press correspondent in Tallahassee, and Craig Waters, the Florida Supreme Court’s spokesperson, talked about Tallahassee during the 2000 Presidential Election recount. They spoke about their experiences and perspectives on events in Tallahassee during the months after election day as the Florida Supreme Court issued rulings affecting the recount and before the case was ultimately sent to the U.S. Supreme Court.

C-SPAN’s Local Content Vehicles (LCVs) made a stop in their “2014 LCV Cities Tour” in Tallahassee, Florida, from February 17-21 to feature the history and literary life of the community. Working with the Comcast Cable local affiliate, they visited literary and historic sites where local historians, authors, and civic leaders were interviewed. The history segments air on American History TV (AHTV) on C-SPAN3 and the literary events/non-fiction author segments air on BookTV on C-SPAN2. close
