President Obama and Ukrainian interim Prime Minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk spoke to reporters following a meeting at the White House. The prime minister said his government was ready for talks aimed at ending the standoff with Russia, whose troops were occupying the state of Crimea. He also said Ukraine would be moving ahead with efforts to join the European Union. President Obama explained why the U.S. and others were rejecting an upcoming referendum in Crimea on whether or not to become part of Russia. close
