Professor Joshua Landis spoke by remote video from Norman Oklahoma, about the state of affairs in Syria, the effectiveness of U.S. policy decisions, and concerns about the presence and influence of al-Qaida in the region. It was the third anniversary of the uprising in Syria rebelling against the government of President Basahr al-Assad. Since then, a reported 140 thousand had died in the continuing conflict between the Syrian government and rebel groups. close
