President Barack Obama gave the keynote address at a three-day Civil Rights Summit hosted by the Lyndon B. Johnson Presidential Library in Austin, Texas. 2014 marked the 50th anniversary of President Johnson’s signing of the 1964 Civil Rights Act on July 2, 1964. He talked about President Johnson’s legacy and his fight to pass the Civil Rights and Voting Rights Acts. He also commented on the power of government and people to create change and recited quotes throughout his speech made by President Johnson.
