Dr. Otis Brawley talked about his book, How We Do Harm: A Doctor Breaks Ranks About Being Sick in America, in which he discusses how medicine is practiced in the U.S. Dr. Brawley argued that the rich are overtreated, the poor are undertreated, and that doctors, insurance companies, and pharmaceutical companies make money by taking advantage of both groups. This event was part of the 2014 Virginia Festival of the Book, and took place in the Jefferson School African American Heritage Center in Charlottesville, Virginia. close
