Co-chairs of the Advisory Panel on the Governance of the Nuclear Security Enterprise outlined their interim report on the National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA). Co-chair Norman Augustine said the viability of the U.S. nuclear deterrent was not in question but that the NNSA had failed and needed reform.

The NNSA’s nuclear security enterprise consists of eight major facilities across the nation and is responsible for carrying out various missions including maintaining nuclear stockpiles and preventing nuclear proliferation.
