Curators from the Architect of the Capitol, the U.S. House of Representatives, and the U.S. Supreme Court talked about the importance of the artists and architects who built and decorated the buildings. They argued that the art exemplifies the political and ideological attitudes at the time of the respective works.

“Object Lessons-Shaping Institutional Narratives Through Art and Architecture” was part of the 2014 meeting of the Society for History in the Federal Government, held at the Robert C. Byrd Center for Legislative Studies. close
