Professor Tyler Boulware talked about Indian slave trade in the South between 1670 and 1720. Spurred by trade with European settlers, tribes like the Chickasaw raided neighbors for captives more frequently than they had in the years before colonization. Professor Boulware explained how these interactions impacted both native and colonial societies for years to come by pushing Indians further inland, destabilizing smaller tribes, and driving them to war. This class was from his course titled, “Seventeenth-Century Colonial America.” close
