Val Holley talked about his book, 25th Street Confidential: Drama, Decadence, and Dissipation along Ogden’s Rowdiest Road, in which he profiles Ogden, Utah’s most infamous street. Beginning with the arrival of the railroad, Ogden’s population grew substantially. Residents began opening up businesses along 25th Street to service railway passengers. It started with hotels, but soon saloons, brothels, and opium dens occupied the three blocks between Ogden’s main street and the railway station.

C-SPAN’s Local Content Vehicles (LCVs) made a stop in their “2014 LCV Cities Tour” in Ogden, Utah, from April 5-11 to feature the history and literary life of the community. Working with the Comcast Cable local affiliate, they visited literary and historic sites where local historians, authors, and civic leaders were interviewed. The history segments air on American History TV (AHTV) on C-SPAN3 and the literary events/non-fiction author segments air on BookTV on C-SPAN2. close
