Former British Foreign Secretary David Miliband and former U.S. Ambassador to Syria Robert Ford talked about humanitarian efforts in Syria. Mr. Miliband urged members of the United Nations Security Council to appoint a humanitarian envoy to Syria. Ambassador Ford in his comments said Syrian President Bashar al-Assad was the root cause of the conflict in the country and the fate of the nation was tied to the fate of Assad. Both leaders said that policy and politics often get in the way of humanitarian efforts. The program included questions from audience members. close
