Tom Donilon and Stephen Haldley talked about their experiences as National Security Advisers. Topics included the effectiveness of sanctions against Russia and Iran, the impact of National Security Agency documents leaker Edward Snowden, and cyber theft charges brought by the U.S. against China. Both agreed that the consequences for China’s intelligence theft should be more severe.

“Leveraging Financial Tools to Advance National Security” was the first panel of the Treasury’s Department’s Terrorism and Financial Institution day-long tenth anniversary forum titled, “TFI@10: The Evolution of Treasury’s National Security Role,” held by the Center for Strategic and International Studies. close
