Witnesses from the music recording industry testified on music licensing laws and how royalties are calculated for songwriters and publishers. Members also questioned on the increasing use of streaming music. Country songwriter Lee Thomas Miller told the committee that current royalty laws were crushing songwriters.

This hearing was part of broader efforts by the House Judiciary Committee to update copyright law. close
