President Obama delivered the commencement address to the 2014 University of California-Irvine graduating class in Angel Stadium in Anaheim. It was the 50th anniversary of the dedication of the campus by President Lyndon B. Johnson. He encouraged the graduates to persevere in their efforts to change the world. He used the efforts to combat of global climate change as an example of the challenges they would face. He talked about his recent actions to reduce carbon pollution and announced a billion dollar competitive fund to help communities prepare for the effects of climate change. close
