The National Governors Association (NGA) kicked off its three-day meeting in Nashville with an opening news conference. NGA Chair Mary Fallin (R-OK) talked about the group’s accomplishments over the past year, as well as some of the issues being covered over the weekend which included health care, helping veterans transition to civilian employment, state-federal partnerships, and the role of education in economic development. She was joined by Vice Chair John Hickenlooper (D-CO) and Tennessee Governor Bill Haslam (R-TN) on stage at Ryman Auditorium. The governors talked about issues of concern such as possible delays in state projects as the Highway Trust Fund would be depleted during summer and the handling of unaccompanied immigrant children at the border. close
