Representative Ted Poe (R-TX) and other digital privacy advocates talked about federal privacy laws. Representative Poe co-sponsored legislation that would reform the Electronic Communications Privacy Act (ECPA) of 1986 and require that the federal government show probable cause and obtain a search warrant to access electronic communications. Representative Poe in his presentation read the Fourth Amendment aloud and talked about its history. Topics during the panel discussion included an explanation of the ECPA. close
