Security Threats in Syria
President Obama stated in June 2014 that the conflicts in Syria could pose dangers for homeland security, because militants carrying European passports might gain access to the United States.

Speaking to diplomats at the U.S. embassy in Oslo, Norway, Attorney General Eric Holder said the “Syrian conflict has turned that region into a cradle of violent extremism” and discussed ways the international community, in particular Europe, could confront the security threats in Syria.
