The Yosemite Grant Act, signed by President Abraham Lincoln, was the first land grant act passed by Congress to protect wild lands for enjoyment by the American public. Ms. Huntley is the author of The Making of Yosemite: James Mason Hutchings and the Origin of America’s Most Popular National Park. The California Historical Society hosted this event. close
