Lynette West gave a tour of the Wyoming State Capitol. The cornerstone for the building was laid in Cheyenne on May 18, 1887, although the city was not officially named Wyoming’s Capital until nearly a century later. Ms. West talked about some of Wyoming’s important figures represented in the Capitol, including Chief Washakie of the Shoshone and Ester Morris, the first female Justice of the Peace.

C-SPAN’s Local Content Vehicles (LCVs) made a stop in their “2014 LCV Cities Tour” in Cheyenne, Wyoming, from July 10-14 to feature the history and literary life of the community. Working with the Charter Communications local affiliate, they visited literary and historic sites where local historians, authors, and civic leaders were interviewed. The history segments aired on American History TV (AHTV) on C-SPAN3 and the literary events/non-fiction author segments aired on BookTV on C-SPAN2. close
