President Obama delivered remarks before signing H.R. 3230, the Veterans' Access to Care through Choice, Accountability, and Transparency Act of 2014. The bill would allow veterans living more than 40 miles from a VA facility or those who have to wait more than 30 days for medical assistance to seek outside care. The legislation was also intended to overhaul the Department of Veterans Affairs by making it easier to fire senior VA executive for poor performance. President Obama urged the Senate to more speedily confirm new VA executives. close
