Foreign and national security policy scholars assessed the Obama administration’s strategy in Iraq in response to the advance ISIS.* They also discussed Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki and the decision to send additional military advisers to Iraq. The panelists expressed support for the actions President Obama had taken thus far but said the U.S. needed to go further. They agreed that sending in American troops would not help the situation because the solution needed to include disenfranchised people in the government.
