Louisa Lim spoke about her book, The People’s Republic of Amnesia: Tiananmen Revisited, in which she looks at the events of June 4, 1989, when soldiers from China’s People’s Liberation Army fired on unarmed protestors trying to block the army’s advance on Tiananmen Square in Beijing.

She spoke in the History and Biography Pavilion of the 2014 National Book Festival, which was held August 30 by the Library of Congress at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center in Washington, D.C. close
