The Good Spy Kai Bird spoke about his book, The Good Spy: The Life and Death of Robert Ames, in which he chronicles the life and career of Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) operative Robert Ames. In his book, Mr. Bird argues that Ames, who worked for the CIA’s Middle East Directorate of Operations before his death, was one of the most important and successful operatives in the history of the organization. Robert Ames was killed in the suicide bombing of the U.S. Embassy in Beirut in 1983.

Mr. Bird spoke in the History and Biography Pavilion of the 14th annual National Book Festival, which was held August 30,2014, by the Library of Congress at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center in Washington, D.C. close
