Nicholas Burns talked about some of the foreign policy stories that were dominating the news, including the Obama administration’s response to the threat from ISIS* and the group’s beheading of a second American journalist. Other topics included the U.S. policy of not negotiating ransoms to release hostages; President Obama’s speech in Tallinn, Estonia; and the NATO Summit in Wales on September 4 and 5. He commented on the latest in the Russia-Ukraine conflict. A live two-minute portion of President Obama’s speech in Tellinn was shown during the program.
