U.S. Response to Islamic State
*The Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant (ISIL), also known as the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS), an extremist Sunni militant group that has called itself the Islamic State.
Senate Armed Services Chair Carl Levin (D-MI) talked about the U.S. response to Islamic State* militants in Iraq and Syria and other foreign policy issues. Senator Levin expressed confidence in the president’s approach to combating ISIS in Iraq and Syria, and said there was bipartisan congressional support for the president’s actions. Senator Levin was set to retire in January 2015 after serving 36 years in the senate.
