Larry Merlo, president and chief executive officer of CVS Health, spoke at a National Press Club luncheon about corporate responsibility. He defended the company’s decision to stop the sale of tobacco products. CVS Health had stopped selling cigarettes and all tobacco products at its more than 7,600 stores nationwide, and expected to lose $2 billion a year in sales.
