Tavis Smiley talked about his book, Death of a King: The Real Story of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.'s Final Year, in which he focuses on the final year of Martin Luther King, Jr.'s life. The talk show host reported that King’s final year was marked by condemnation by the black middle class and political far left, as well as by the media and the President. The author argued that remembrance of King’s life has been sanitized, which has left the man and the final month prior to his death misunderstood. Tavis Smiley spoke at the National Civil Rights Museum in Memphis. close
