The American Enterprise Institute held a forum on the “values” issue in the 1992 presidential campaign. Panel members discussed the use of “family values” as a campaign theme of the Republican party, the use of “values” in previous elections, and poll results of voters concerning American families and values. The panelists also discussed the variances between the current state of the American family and the American family ideal inherent in the rhetoric of “family values.” The panel members responded to questions following their prepared remarks. close
