It was expected that when the 103rd Congress convened in January 1993, more than 100 members currently serving would no longer be there. Many members were seeking other offices or have retired. Others had been defeated in primaries or may be defeated in November. Representative Tom Campbell (R-California) was defeated in a bid for the U.S. Senate. Representative Howard Wolpe (D-Michigan) is leaving after seven terms because of redistricting. Representative Beverly Byron (D-Maryland) lost in the Maryland primaries. The three members of Congress discussed their years on Capitol Hill. close
