The Fight for the Four Freedoms
C-SPAN’s Local Content Vehicles (LCVs) made a stop in their “2014 LCV Cities Tour” in Green Bay, Wisconsin, from September 20-26 to feature the history and literary life of the community. Working with the Time Warner Cable local affiliate, they visited literary and historic sites where local historians, authors, and civic leaders were interviewed. The history segments air on American History TV (AHTV) on C-SPAN3 and the literary events/non-fiction author segments air on BookTV on C-SPAN2.

Harvey Kaye talked about his book, The Fight for the Four Freedoms: What Made FDR and the Greatest Generation Truly Great, in which he talks about the “Fight for the Four Freedoms” outlined in President Franklin D. Roosevelt’s 1941 State of the Union address. Mr. Kaye explained how the Four Freedoms outlined in the speech shaped a generation and how those freedoms were under siege by partisan politics.
