Operation United Assistance Joint Force Commander Major General Darryl Williams, U.S. Ambassador to Liberia Debra Malac, and USAID Deputy DART Director Ben Hemingway briefed reporters in the Pentagon by telephone from Liberia about the Defense Department’s response to the Ebola outbreak in Western Africa. Topics included on preventative measures for troops, quarantine protocol, concerns over Liberia’s infrastructure, and the completion of a 25-bed medical unit. Ambassador Malec said that she was not in favor of a travel ban because it would prevent or delay the arrival of important resources and supplies to the area. close
