Rear Admiral John Kirby and General Curtis Scaparrotti briefed reporters and responded to questions on U.S Military activities on the Korean peninsula. He talked about the North Korea nuclear threat, saying he believed the country has the capability to develop a launcher to deliver a long-range intercontinental ballistic missile. He also gave his assessment of the disappearance of North Korean leader Kim Jong-un from public view, and commented on the announcement that the U.S. and South Korea would delay a planned transfer of wartime operational control of South Korean troops. close
