President George H.W. Bush made a campaign appearance in Joplin, Missouri. He spoke to students at Missouri Southern State College. In his speech, he blamed Congress for blocking his economic reform proposals and reiterated that he wanted free trade between the East and West to help rebuild the American economy. The president outlined his economic growth package which he unveiled the previous day in a speech in Detroit, Michigan. close
