C-SPAN’s Local Content Vehicles (LCVs) made a stop in their “2014 LCV Cities Tour” in Waco, Texas, from Novermber 3-6 to feature the history and literary life of the community. Working with the Time Warner Cable local affiliate, they visited literary and historic sites where local historians, authors, and civic leaders were interviewed. The history segments air on American History TV (AHTV) on C-SPAN3 and the literary events/non-fiction author segments air on BookTV on C-SPAN2.

Robert Darden talked about his book, Nothing But Love in God’s Water: Black Sacred Music from the Civil War to the Civil Rights Movement, in which he explores the history of gospel music and its role in African-American history. He also spoke about the Black Gospel Music Restoration Project, Baylor University’s program to archive gospel music.
