Timothy Wu, who coined the phrase “net neutrality,” talked about technology issues and the debate over how to manage the Internet. The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) was considering new rules for governing the Internet after their rules were deemed not to be legal by a federal appeals court in January 2014. A video clip was shown of President Obama’s November 10, 2014, call for strong rules about the Internet such as regulating it under Title II like a utility. Professor Wu talked about why he agreed with the president that the FCC should consider more stringent regulation of the Internet. Professor Wu talked by remote video from New York City. close
