Senator John McCain (R-AZ) talked about the book he wrote with Mark Salter, Thirteen Soldiers: A Personal History of Americans at War, in which he discusses America’s armed conflicts through the eyes of thirteen soldiers in thirteen wars. The book includes profiles of Joseph Plumb Martin, a fifteen-year old soldier in the Revolutionary War, Army Reservist Mary Rhoads, who served in the Persian Gulf War, and Michael Monsoor a Navy SEAL in Iraq. Senator McCain was interviewed by Myron Belkind and responded to questions submitted by members of the audience. Topics included the reasons he chose particular individuals to represent each war.
