Sammie Morris speaks about the George Palmer Putnam Collection of Amelia Earhart Papers at Purdue University, the world’s largest collection of papers related to the American aviation pioneer. Ms. Morris showed selected items from the collection, including poems and letters, as well as an unofficial prenuptial letter Ms. Earhart gave to husband, George Putnam, on their wedding day. Ms. Morris also spoke about Ms. Earhart’s time at Purdue, as she prepared for the round-the-world flight funded by the university. Amelia Earhart and navigator Fred Noonan disappeared during this flight in 1937.
C-SPAN’s Local Content Vehicles (LCVs) made a stop in their “2014 LCV Cities Tour” in Lafayette and West Lafayette, Indiana, from November 16-20 to feature the history and literary life of the community.
