Stephanie Schmitz talked about Purdue University’s Psychoactive Substances Research Collection. The collection includes rare books and medical research on the use of psychoactive substances as medicine. Psychoactive substances such as LSD were studied from the 1950's into the 1970s to see if they could treat illnesses such as addiction, cancer, PTSD, and other mental illnesses.

C-SPAN’s Local Content Vehicles (LCVs) made a stop in their “2014 LCV Cities Tour” in Lafayette and West Lafayette, Indiana, from November 16-20 to feature the history and literary life of the community. Working with the Comcast cable local affiliate, they visited literary and historic sites where local historians, authors, and civic leaders were interviewed. The history segments air on American History TV (AHTV) on C-SPAN3 and the literary events/non-fiction author segments air on BookTV on C-SPAN2. close
