With funding set to expire at midnight, the Senate passed H.J.Res.131, a short-term continuing resolution funding the federal government until midnight on Wednesday, December 17, 2014. Later the Senate approved 56-40 the long-term $1.1 trillion federal spending bill. The Senate also worked to confirm nominations. The Senate defeated the constitutional point of order raised by Senator Cruz (R-TX) against the spending bill. close
