President Obama delivered his weekly address. He reflected on the progress the country had made in 2014, and in the six years of his presidency, recovering from the economic recession. He noted growth in jobs, that wages had started to rise, and investments in manufacturing. Other factors helping people were increases in health insurance coverage and lower fuel prices. He touted America’s leadership in the coalition to degrade and ultimately destroy ISIL, combat the Ebola outbreak, and address climate change. He said that although the 13-year combat mission in Afghanistan would be over in two weeks, gratitude should be expressed to the many men and women in uniform who would spend Christmas in harm’s way. close
