Steve Berkowitz talked about issues affecting colleges with major sports programs, including reforms suggested by college and governmental policymakers. Topics included the movement to unionize players; academic standards and athletic eligibility; athletes' personal and ethical behavior; and the cost of athletic programs, and the profits generated from them. He commented on video clips of Michigan State University President Lou Anna K. Simon and University of Iowa President Sally Mason being interviewed from the C-SPAN Bus about college athletics. Mr. Berkowitz responded to telephone calls and electronic communications, including telephone lines divided between students, parents, educator, and all others.

The program concluded with a video clip of Governor Steve Bullock (D-MT), the new chair of the Democratic Governors Association, being interviewed December 23, 2014, for “Newsmakers.” close
