Professor Robyn Muncy talked about Josephine Roche, a pro-labor feminist, and her role in progressivism in 20th century America. One of Josephine Roche’s many jobs was as the assistant secretary of the treasury under Franklin D. Roosevelt, during which she worked on what would later become the social security. Professor Muncy also said that Roche’s achievements were viewed as an anomaly at the time, but have since been recongnized as gender breakthroughs. close
