Representative Todd Rokita (R-IN) outlined legislation he sponsored, the Rewarding Achievement and Incentivizing Successful Employees (RAISE) Act. It would allow employers to give their employees merit raises regardless of union contracts. After his prepared remarks, he joined panelists in a discussion on the topic. The panelists argued that unions are a relic and more concerned with protecting their own interests than providing more benefits for members.

This program was part of the first day of the Heritage Foundation’s two-day 2015 Conservative Policy Summit, “Opportunity for All, Favoritism to None.” close
