The National Action Network (NAN) held its annual breakfast in honor of Martin Luther King, Jr., at the Mayflower Renaissance Hotel. Featured speakers included Housing and Urban Development (HUD) Secretary Julian Castro and Health and Human Services Secretary Sylvia Burwell on the Obama administration’s efforts to end homelessness and to reduce health care disparities. A video reflected on Martin Luther King, Jr., and on NAN’s outreach in the community and nationally. Honorees spoke after receiving their “Be Like King” awards for showing leadership and honoring King’s legacy. President Obama’s video about making Martin Luther King Jr. Day a day of service was also shown. close
