Governor Jay Nixon (D) delivered his annual state of the state address to a joint session of the Missouri General Assembly in Jefferson City. He outlined his budget, which called for expanding Medicaid, increasing funding for education, and modernizing the state’s veterans facilities. He also talked about the measures being taken following events in Ferguson, including loans to help small businesses recover and the creation of an office of community engagement. Governor Nixon said in order to foster healing in Ferguson, many “systematic changes need to occur.” close
