Democratic presidential nominee Gov. Bill Clinton addressed the convention of the National Guard Association approximately 90 minutes following an address by President Bush to the same group. In his remarks, Gov. Clinton lauded the performance of the National Guard and the U.S. armed forces, and briefly stated his ability to act as commander-in-chief. He then went on to criticize the economic record of the Bush administration, and relate the economic security and national security of the country. At one point early in the speech, Gov. Clinton’s microphone went dead for a few moments. close
