Bernard Weatherill, the former speaker of the British House of Commons, addressed an international law class at Denver University on “The Penalty That Good Men Pay for Failing to Participate in Politics Is to be Governed by Others Worse than Themselves.” Mr. Weatherill, now a member of the House of Lords, spoke on the necessity of participation in the democratic process for the full benefits of a democracy, and discussed the democracies in the U.S. and Great Britain. close
