Scott Berg talked about Pierre Charles L’Enfant, the French architect who designed Washington, D.C. Professor Berg spoke about L’Enfant’s relationship with President George Washington, who Professor Berg says reluctantly dismissed the Frenchman from the project after eleven months. Professor Berg also argued that L’Enfant made many enemies and as a result his original design never came to complete fruition. The Smithsonian Associates hosted this event. close
