Federal Communications Committee Chair Tom Wheeler held a news conference following a meeting in which the panel voted 3-2 in favor of proposed rule changes that reclassify high-speed broadband as a public utility, intended to prevent Internet service providers from giving some customers preferential treatment or establishing “fast lanes.” He was followed by members of the FCC staff answering questions. Then the Republican commissioners spoke about their opposition to the rule that was just passed. close
