President Obama Remarks to the Nation's Governors
Vice President Joe Biden and NGA Chair Governor John Hickenlooper (D-CO) made opening remarks.
President Obama addressed governors who were in Washington, D.C. for the 2015 National Governors Association (NGA) Winter Meeting. He talked about what they effect on states and national security would be if Congress did not pass a bill to fund the Homeland Security Department beyond the February 27, 2015, deadline. He also spoke about economic progress and the work of various states on infrastructure, education, and paid sick leave, and he acknowledged the efforts of states to take up Medicaid expansion.
